BIOGRAPHY
 

Kay Walkowiak (*1980 Salzburg) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (2003-2008), the University of Applied Arts Vienna with Erwin Wurm (2003-2010) and at the Zokei University in Tokyo. 
Walkowiak’s work blends installation, sculpture, video art, and photography, using conceptual and post-minimal strategies. He explores how form is historically and socioculturally defined.

Walkowiak has participated in various group exhibitions since 2004, most recently at the Zentrum Paul Klee (2025) and at Künstlerhaus Wien (2025). Solo exhibitions include the CNA in Luxembourg (2024) and Jim Thompson Art Center in Bangkok (2023), Bank Austria Kunstforum (2023), the Soulangh Art Space in Tainan (2016), MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts (2016) and the The Austrian Cultural Forum in New Delhi (2017). He also featured at the Vienna Biennale 2017 and 2021, Bangkok Biennial and the Lahore Biennale in 2018 and the 4th Mediterranean Biennale in 2021.
