Sophie Gogl, born 1992 in Kitzbühel studied with professor Judith Eisler at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. Gogl's practice can be described as processing stock photography and pictographs (emoticons, clip art) which she finds while traveling or on the internet and the subsequent ironic manipulation of these subjects in her paintings. A dissociation takes place when she occasionally resizes her original findings like in „Santorini Pt. 1“, where she blows up a notepad, typically used in Austrian gastronomy, to the size of a canvas. Additionally the titles of her works expand the imagery space in its meaning.

Sophie Gogl just completed her studies at the University of Applied Arts with Judith Eisler, she graduated with honours.
